Orlie L. Kirsch age 91 of Branson, Missouri formerly of Independence, Missouri passed away on June 1, 2017 at his home in Branson.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
Orlie was born on September 14, 1925 in Barrington, Illinois the son of Roscoe and Alice Kirsch and was raised in Wisconsin. He graduated from Ag-High School in 1943 and enrolled in Ag-Engineering at the University of Wisconsin and was drafted in the services after one year. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France, Germany and Italy in a MP unit known as “Ike’s Snowballs”. After the war he was in agricultural construction in Burlington, Wisconsin until 1963 when he sold his business and worked for Butler Manufacturing Company and moved to Belton, Missouri in 1970 until retirement in 1990. He moved from Independence, Missouri to Branson, Missouri in July, 1999.
He was a member of the American Legion, Belton Lodge No. 450, Scottish Rite and York Rite Bodies, Ararat Shrine and Taney County Shrine Clubs. Orlie was known by many as “Zip” the clown for over 45 years. For the last 20 plus years, he was a member of the Ararat Shrine Clowns.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles. He is survived by his wife, Carol of the home, one son, Jeffrey Kirsch, one daughter, Peggy Gile and Husband Tim, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, stepchildren, Linda Owens and husband Dean and their families and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requested no flowers and memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, c/o Ararat Shrine, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, Mo. 64129.
Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Missouri.
