Springfield - Johnny L. Durden, age 84 passed away in Springfield, MO on Saturday June 23, 2018 at Mercy hospital. Johnny was born on November 24th, 1933 in Gloverville, South Carolina.
Johnny grew up in Gloverville, South Carolina and graduated from Langley High School. He went on to join the United States Navy. He was a Data Manager at Lily Tulip and retired after over 40 years.
Johnny married Molly Nates and they were married for 60 years. Johnny and Molly had 4 children: Clifton and his wife Diana, Stacy, Joni and Bruce. Johnny has 5 grandchildren: Jared Durden, Haley Durden, Zachary Durden, Lindsey Durden and Sarah Canady. He also has 2 great-grandchildren: Lincoln Durden and Ezra Durden; sister, Annie Richardson; and brother, Norman and spouse, Susan Durden. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clone and Katie Marie; brother Jack, sister Allene and brother Jimmy.
Johnny was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and was involved in many church and school activities.
Johnny was a very loving, gentle and patient husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed laughing and loving God and Life.
Johnny enjoyed many hobbies and interest including fishing, baseball, ping-pong and genealogy.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 West Battlefield Springfield Mo from 11:30 to 12:30 Wednesday June 27th, 2018. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
