Obituary for Gilbert Hill

Gilbert  Hill
On Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 12:19pm Gilbert Virgil Hill, age 87 of Springfield, MO, peacefully passed surrounded by his four daughters at his home from the side effects of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born July 10, 1931, in Dallas County, MO, to Olen Virgil and Lenus Shelby (Jackson) Hill.
He attended and graduated from Pleasant Hope High School in 1949. He met his beloved wife of 60 years, Marietta Louise (Snodgrass) Hill, at the Hog eye picnic; they courted and were married on June 2, 1950. He was a member of the Pleasant Hope Masonic Lodge #467 A.F. & A.M initiated in March of 1971 and became a Master Mason on May 24, 1971. Gilbert retired from Mid America Dairymen Inc. in December of 1996 after 47 years of dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Marietta Louise (Snodgrass) Hill, his father and mother Olen Virgil and Lenus Shelby (Jackson) Hill, two siblings, brother Clorn Hill, and sister Viola (Hill) Prater.
He is survived by four daughters, Pam Cluck and her husband Mike of Aurora, IL., Patricia Vincent and her husband Larry of Jefferson City, MO., Paula Wisdom and her husband Dan of Springfield, MO., and Penny Cossich of Springfield, MO. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial immediately following at Mt. Olive Cemetery, near Elkland, MO. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 6:00 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
