Obituary for Elizabeth J. Waggoner

Elizabeth J.  Waggoner
Elizabeth Jane (Doak) Waggoner 85, Springfield, Mo. She was born on October 14, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa. to James and Isabel (Gamble) Doak. She was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed being a granny to her grandchildren, and "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, she also enjoyed cooking, swimming, sewing, and reading. For 20 plus years, Elizabeth was employed at Burge Hospital, Cox Medical Center, as a Registered Nurse. She worked in Labor and Delivery, then became a Nursing Supervisor, then Assistant Director of Nursing, and the Executive Director Of Nursing.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Melvin "Mel" Waggoner ( they were married September 5, 1953), her brother: Thomas Doak, and her brother-in-law: James Leopold. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Kathryn Rinald and her husband Ronald, Susan Crain and her husband Thomas, Carol Plymire and her husband Stephen, and Diane Collier and her husband Barry. Her grandchildren: Shawn Burks, Nathan Miller, Cassie (Miller) Shurtz, Zachary Miller, Benjamin Miller, David Garrett, Jared Plymire, Elizabeth Plymire, Aaron Plymire, Brady Collier, and Bryce Collier, a sister: Fran Leopold, a sister-in-law: Shirley Doak, fifteen nieces and nephews on the East and West Coasts. She was also survived by many good friends and relatives. Most relatives from her side of the family are still in Ireland, where both of her parents were born and raised, except for siblings and their families.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow services in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.Memorial Donations are suggested to Victory Mission or Jacobs Care.
