Obituary for Harvey Lloyd Ross

Harvey Lloyd Ross
It is with great sadness that the family of Harvey Ross, of Springfield Missouri, announces his passing on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the age of 84 years.
Harvey, known to friends as "Harv," and to his family as “Papa.” will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Lydella and his children, Dwight, Steve, Jason (Lacey), Angie (Keith), and Shelly (Chris). Harvey was also fondly remembered by his fifteen grandchildren, Hallie, Zachary, Lydella, Natasha, Erin, Keri, Michael, Dillon, Rachel, Isaac, Hailey, Tucker, Chase, Ryder, and Parker. He also had thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Lois is his only surviving sister. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Gordon, and three of his brothers and sisters.
Harvey never met a stranger. He took great pride in the camaraderie he had with his friends and farm community. Raising cattle and several buffalo were truly his passions. Not even his health and age hindered his duty. He was a true cowboy.
He loved to travel and fish as well. Though he dreaded the preparation of family events, he was quick and proud to share the outcome of the many family and friends that would come to the family gatherings. He was an 82nd Airborne paratrooper in the early 1950’s. Harvey was truly loved and highly thought of by many. He without a doubt has left a legacy.
A Funeral service in memory of Harvey will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow in Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch or to the Drought Relief Fund.
