Evelyn Bacon, 92, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Maranatha Village in Springfield, MO. She was born on March 18,1922 in Reward, CA to Fred Hendrickson and Leloa Graham and two years later their family moved back to Bolivar, MO. She married Arlie Bacon October 15, 1940 and they enjoyed over 66 years of marriage at the time of his death. To this union three children were born, Kenneth, Verle, and Deborah. When the children were small, they moved to Aldrich, MO. where they ran a dairy farm and Evelyn had a beauty shop. When the Stockton Dam was built, they were forced to move so they bought a farm and moved to Dallas County near Fair Grove and continued the dairy business. Altogether they had over 30 years on the farm. Mom enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting. When they retired they did some traveling with their R.V. The highlight of their traveling was the trip to Israel, The Holy Land. Evelyn was saved and baptized and joined a Baptist church. They were active members of National Heights Baptist adult Sunday school class and Prime Timers until their health failed.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Clark Hendrickson, and his wife Carolyn, Virgil Hendrickson and his wife Francis and Harold Hendrickson and his wife Ann.
She is survived by a sister Dorothy Bennett and husband Glenn of Ojai, CA., two sons: Kenneth and his wife Betty Bacon, Verle Bacon, daughter: Debbie Pursley and husband Dwight, six grandchildren, Craig, Brett, Troy, Joseph Bacon, Chad Faught, Mike Hawkins and Michele Reaves. Nine great-grandchildren: Cassie Dorran, Justin, Amanda, Dustin, McKenzie Bacon, Max and Megan Reaves and Andrew and Mallory Hawkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also many thanks to the ladies that helped care for mom during her later years so she could stay in her home.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Greenlawn East Chapel from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at National Heights Baptist Church at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to National Heights Baptist Church.
