John J Berglund died peacefully at Cox South on January 31st in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 90.
John is survived by his Daughter, DeeAnn Dighero of Aurora (Spouse Herb), Sister Winnifred Hasten (Berglund)
Grandkids Lance Griter (spouse Teresa) of Springfield, MO, Kim Rader Dighero of Nevada, MO, Annie DeFreece of Fair Grove, Austin Thomas (spouse Grace) of Stillwater, OK, John Dighero of Aurora, MO.
Great grandkids Jedonna J. Griter, Richmond Griter, Trenton Rader, Trevor Rader, & Triton Dighero, Elijah Lowe, James DeFreece,
Nephew Tom Pulley of Gulf Breeze, FL and Nephew Joseph Hasten of Langhorne, PA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Noma (Mayberry) Berglund, his wife Dorothea (Dottie) Berglund (Breshears), his sisters Nancy Jane Pulley and Willie Ann Truhitt, his oldest daughter Jedonna N. Griter (Berglund), and his grandson Erin Griter.
John was born on November 11, 1925 in Green County, MO to Nelson and Noma Berglund. He graduated from Strafford School (Strafford, MO) in 1944. He married Dottie Breshears in Springfield, MO at Oakland Methodist Church, on December 18, 1948.
John was a life-long Jersey Dairy Farmer, Mason, former war-time state-side Marine, and Frisco Railroad retiree. He was a generous family man that had a gift with all kinds of animals.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 4th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Greenlawn North Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, February 5th, 11:00 am at Greenlawn North, followed by interment at Eastlawn Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John’s life. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers, place donations to Fair Haven Children’s Home or Strafford School Foundation in his name.
