Mary Ellen White went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born on March 27, 1923 in Springfield, MO to Leonard E. and Adele E. White.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Carl Thomas White Sr., infant sister, Martha Lee White, and nephew Carl T. White Jr. She leaves behind several nieces, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen was employed and retired from Commerce Bank with over 44 years of service. She accepted the Lord as a young child and was a member of Second Baptist Church. She was an avid fan of the Lady Bears basketball and loved boating and fishing. She traveled extensively over the United States and Europe. She was a volunteer at St. John’s hospital and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. She played the violin with the Springfield Symphony from 1943-1947. She was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 4:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with the visitation prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the funeral home. A private burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
