Maxine Lucille Bossing, 86, was born January 29, 1928, and passed away July 29, 2014, in Springfield, MO.
Maxine was born in Hammond, MO and grew up in Seymour, with majority of her life in Springfield. She was the daughter of Bertha and Chloe Trent and sister of Gladys Hubbard all of which preceded her in death.
Maxine and Charles Bossing were married November 28, 1946 and had a long and loving relationship. Charles passed away in 1993. They had two children Lyndle Bossing and Diana Patton.
Maxine has the distinction of being longest standing member at Macedonia Baptist Church, Springfield, MO joining in 1952. Maxine was an award winning quilter. She loved gardening and cooking. She wrote poems, which she shared with family and friends, which were inspired by major events in her life.
Maxine was fortunate to rekindle a 70 year friendship with Herschel Hubbard and they enjoyed each other’s company the last 17 years of her life.
Maxine is survived by her son, Lyndle Bossing, his wife Marilyn and grandson William Knight and his wife Sarah Knight and great-grandchildren Mason, Cassidy and Lauren; daughter, Diana and her husband Bob Patton and granddaughters Amy Hopkins and Aryn Hopkins-Walker and husband Joe Walker; along with many family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3110 West Sunshine, Springfield, MO 65807 with Rev. Charles Hufft and Rev. Rich Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Greenlawn South Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
