Peggy May Monday, age 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Woodland Manor. She was born May 24, 1928, in Springfield, MO. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She is preceded in death by her husband Billy Coy Monday a W.W.II veteran, and her mother Jewell Taylor, of Springfield,MO. She is survived by her children; Billy Coy Monday Jr. and wife, Terri, Buffalo, MO., Donald Lee Monday and wife Roberta, Springfield,MO., and Patricia ann Monday, Springfield, MO. One brother Paul Samples and wife Naomi, of Pineville,LA. Six grandchildren; Billy Coy Monday III and wife Sandy, Overland Park, KS., Joseph Paul Monday, Moberly, MO., Barry Alan Monday and wife Rachel, Buffalo,MO., Jennifer Leigh (Monday) Ogan and husband Brian, Springfield,MO., Ryan Monday and wife Ashley, Fair Grove, MO., and Emily Monday, Austin, TX.
Being a wife, mother and grandmother was the greatest joy of her life. She led cub scouts and worked with the PTA. Her home was filled with treasures from local flea markets, and every item had a story. She loved to decorate her home for every season and she filled the yard and porches with flowering plants and shrubs. She was an avid animal lover, with most of her pets coming to the front door and making themselves at home. She spent most of her time studying the Bible, reading the latest books published by Christian authors and listening to the Gaithers.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with Rev. Brandon Melton officiating. Burial will be held in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Springfield. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to M.S. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
