Edith “Edie” Irene Collins, 50, Springfield, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2016 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Edie was born October 3, 1966 in Owensboro, KY to Joye and Leroy Wedge. Edie went to Parkview High School and graduated in 1985. She attended Drury University where she received a paralegal degree and then later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009. Edie worked at Mercy Hospital for 21 years in various roles, most recently being in the Legal Department and then retiring as Director of Medical Staff Services in June, 2011.
Edie and John were united in marriage on August 6, 1994 and had two beautiful girls, Jacey and Courtney, who are the love of their lives. Edie was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and always enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School every year and working at the Visitor Center. Edie loved to play the piano and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the girl’s scholastic and sporting events.
Edie was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Wedge and step-father, Buckie Kane, as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, John Collins, Springfield, MO and two daughters of the home, Jacey Collins and Courtney Peyton Collins; her mother Joye Kane, Springfield, MO; her sister Michele Wedge Whitener and her husband Kevin of St. James, MO; one nephew, a host of nieces, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins all of whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at South Haven Baptist Church with Reverend David Paschal officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tiriveedhi and her staff at the Mercy Oncology Center for their kindness, compassion and professionalism. Also, the family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Bethmann and the outstanding staff and residents of Mercy Villa for their loving care.
