Jarrett (Jerry) Holland Murray, age 84, of Springfield, Mo. passed away peacefully June 26, in his home. Jerry was born September 21, 1936, in Springfield, Mo. to Robert Booth Murray Sr. and Jule Jarrett Murray. Jarrett (Jerry) Holland Murray, age 84, of Springfield, Mo. passed away peacefully June 26, in his home.
Jerry was born September 21, 1936, in Springfield, Mo. to Robert Booth Murray Sr. and Jule Jarrett Murray.
He attended Los Angeles Valley University of Southern California and Columbia Broadcasting in Los Angeles. He completed is designation as CLU chartered life underwriter in 1973.
Jerry was an accomplished cyclist, runner, and billiards player. In his lifetime he ran over 22 thousand miles and cycled 112 thousand miles, equivalent to 5.5 times around the world.
He was an avid train collector and recognized nationally for his elaborate train layout. He received almost 100 trophies and awards for all his accomplishments.
He is survived by his daughters, Andrea Murray Springfield, Mo. Melissa Metheny and husband Mike, New Jersey, Son Chad Murray and wife Jennifer of Springfield, Grandchildren, Colin Caples, Erica Elliott, Alex Elliott, Mitch Metheny, Olivia Metheny and several great grandchildren. His siblings Joan Clinkenbeard, Robert Murray, David Murray, and many nieces, nephews, friends and his loyal dog Max.
Funeral services for Jerry will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with visitation 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private family interment will be at Maple Park Cemetery.
