Darrell Ray Roberts left this earth and joined his heavenly family, including his son, Aaron Paul, on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Sixty years prior, he was born the baby of five children to Erby Lee and Melbus Irene Rayborn Roberts of Atmore, Alabama. Darrell is survived by his wife and best friend of forty years, Karen Nickens Roberts and their daughter, Michelle Lee. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Kim Roberts and granddaughter, Lydia Rose. Other survivors include Greg Capers, Ashely Roberts Rousseau, Doug and Erby Parker, and many more nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, including Gina Raybon Stabler.
Darrell’s younger life was filled with many challenges that he overcame by the Grace of God. He was proud to tell his story and share about Christ’s love that changed his life many years ago.
In April of 1986, Darrell joined the Army and started a new chapter of his life. Following training and preparation, he was stationed in Germany with a Patriot Unit. His obvious love for all things of God allowed him an assignment as a Chaplain’s assistance for the remaining time overseas. After his years of service there, he was reassigned to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he was then sent to serve in the Gulf War. His Army career ended in May of 1992.
Darrell spent his teen years serving as a bus pastor in south Louisiana spreading the gospel through children’s ministry. He continued spreading the Good News through several different ways including serving as a youth pastor, associate pastor and lead pastor of churches in all his places of residence. Most recently, he attended Faith Life Church in Branson, Missouri.
Darrell’s schooling includes St. Amant Baptist Christian School, Central Bible College, and Central Arkansas Bible College where he received his Masters of Ministry. He was a proud member of the Blue Line Brotherhood Motorcycle Club and Veterans of the Ozarks.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Elroy Roberts, and his sisters: Marie Capers and her husband, Lawrence (PeeWee), Marilyn Parker, Debbie Doucet and her husband, Mike as well as her son.
The family is honored to have the following serve as pallbearers for Darrell: Kevin Crabb, Michael Hynes, Jason Stevens, Michael McCain, Jared Marler, JR Ball, Chris Higgins, and Danny Wroolie.
