Deborah “Debbie” Denice (Dahlman) Taylor, 72, entered the eternal presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 5, 2023. She was born to Carl L. and Emma Harriett (Ford) Dahlman on January 25, 1951, in Springfield, Mo., the second child and daughter of their four children.
At a young age, she received Jesus as her Savior at Boulevard Baptist Church. As a faithful follower of Christ, she attended and held membership at many local churches with her family. Most recently, she was a member of Graceway Baptist Church, and enjoyed attending Maranatha Chapel services as a Maranatha Village resident.
In her teen years, she loved expressing her faith and love of music singing with the Crusade for Christ Teen Accents during the David Wilkerson Youth Crusades that traveled to events across the county. While attending Southwest Missouri State, she loved being involved at the Baptist Student Union and attending prayer meetings at area Pentecostal churches.
Despite a type 1 Diabetes diagnosis as a 13-year-old, Debbie persevered throughout her life always shining the love of Jesus upon her family, friends, classmates, colleagues, and strangers. She started on the front desk at Holiday Inn North, promoted to head bookkeeper, and hosted presidents and musicians during her 23 years there. She retired from Associated Wholesale Grocers after 17 years and loved serving the Maranatha community as a part-time receptionist for the last six years.
Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Garry Taylor; son Garry Taylor Jr., mother Emma Harriett (Ford) Dahlman, brothers Carl Dahlman Jr. and Greg Dahlman, close relatives Larry Reynolds, Rick Reynolds, Lindsey Murphy, in laws Delah and George Hopper, Sonny Hopper, Johnny Taylor, Deborah Brizendine, Danny Parscale, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Taylor and Melissa Heinle and husband, Walter. Along with her father Carl Dahlman; sister Cheryl Shollenberger, and husband, Jim; nephews Mike Shollenberger, and daughter, Kyra, and Jeff Shollenberger, and daughters, Lainie and Marisa; aunt Irene Reynolds, cousins David Reynolds and wife, Sandy, and Susan Murphy and husband, Curtis; in laws Ruthie Taylor, Mike Taylor and wife, Louise, CarlAnn Friend and husband, Ronnie, Sharon Hopper, and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Debbie was like sunshine, and she loved people like Jesus. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at church, concerts, ball games, and having endless conversations with countless cups of coffee. She continued sharing her family’s love of music. Like her mother, daily conversations often triggered a singing performance, and everything revolved around music. She also loved her collections, including the cardinals inherited from her mother, lighthouses, and mugs.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 12 at Maranatha Chapel in Maranatha Village, Springfield, with the service following in the chapel. A private graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Shawn Oberg officiating. Debbie loved many ministries and causes so the family would like memorial contributions to be given as donors choose to honor and remember. Her loved ones are rejoicing in her healing and would love for attendees to wear yellow as we celebrate her life.
