Obituary for Shirley

Shirley J. Rheuark, 85 Springfield, passed away on December 30, 2017. She was born on July 24, 1932 in Springfield, MO. She married Robert Eugene Rheuark in Springfield, MO. She worked as a secretary at Southwest Missouri State University for many years. Her last years of employment were with the Visiting Nurses Association where she made many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, George Albert and Mary Ellen Hyde, and lifelong “sister” Shirley Harbeston.
She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses: Denise and Rex Yearta, Kim and David Burton, and Phillip Miller and Liz Rains, 4 grandchildren: Leslie Yearta-Brown (Jason), Dylan Cole, Erin Yearta Dillon (Marc) and Stacy Cole, 3 great-grandchildren: Calla Yearta-Sothern, Elliott Dillon and Rivers Brown. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bill Rheuark, nieces and nephews; Michael Rheuark, Kathy Gast, Terri Wells, Mary Rheuark, David Rheuark, T.A. Bannister and goddaughter Barbara Frogue. Shirley was an avid reader and a lover of owls and frogs before it was trendy. She loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A funeral mass will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at 11AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Family may come by the funeral home and pay their respects Thursday afternoon.
Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
