Obituary for Robert David Johnston

Robert (Bob) David Johnston, of Springfield passed away September 13, 2018 at the age of 71.
Bob was born February 6, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Gowan Johnston, Jr. and Rosemary Elizabeth Wiesing Johnston.
Bob attended Catholic School until the age of 9 when the family moved to Belleville, Kansas. He graduated from Belleview High School in 1966. After high school, He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Bob went to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where he graduated in 1976.
Bob worked for the Department of Parks and Recreation in Wichita, Kansas for 23 years as a Recreation Supervisor. Part of his duties were to coordinate special events for the Parks Department. He retired to Branson, Missouri in 1998. Bob was an avid fisherman and fished tournaments for a number of years. He enjoyed teaching young people how to fish. He also enjoyed bird hunting which included turkey, pheasant and quail.
Bob married Darlene on August 17, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is preceded in death by a brother James “Skip” Johnston. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Darlene, his son Charlie Johnston of Mankato, Minnesota, his brother Larry Johnston and Jacqui Wolfe of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, his two sisters, Judy Hutchison and her husband Phil of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Mary Kay Hobson and husband Richard of Ozawkie, Kansas and a sister-in-law Mary Jo Johnston of Norton, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him very much.
