Mrs. Barbara Jaquetta (Welch) Lapham, age 69 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019, at Citizens Memorial Hospital Bolivar, MO. She was born December 9, 1949, in Yuma, AZ, to Hubert Garrett and Thelma Irene (Gilbert) Welch. She was united in marriage to Roland “Ron” Lapham, August 6, 1975, in Carson City, Nevada. She is a member of Polk County Democratic Committee.

Barbara traveled with her husband extensively, traveling to over 16 states in the central and the east coast. She enjoyed seeing historical sites in: Washington DC, New York, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Colorado. Barbara enjoyed writing gospel songs, and had one of her songs recorded by the Buck Owens Buckaroo’s, reading the Bible, and talking with her sisters about the Bible, watching select TV shows, Christmas as a special time of the year for her. Telling stories of her life to her grandchildren brought a smile to her face.
Barbara worked for CMH, and for Home Court Advantage in Bolivar, MO, before retiring in 2005.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother Eugene Welch; and a sister Helen McNiel.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years Ron of the home; three daughters: Diana Volkmar and her significant other Andre Botha of Bolivar, MO, Terri McCann of Oklahoma City, OK, and Allecia Lemmon and her husband Justin of Bolivar, MO; a step-son James Lapham and his wife Dorothy of Atlanta, GA; two step-daughters: Regina Bagwell of CA, and Demaris Pires of Lake Shasta, CA; 13 grandchildren: Amanda Freemantle, Curtis Rager, Joshua Rager, Sarah Rager, Mitchel Bagwell, Steven Bagwell, Cheress Lapham, Tanecia Volkmar, Randall Volkmar, John Botha, Michael Lapham, Justin Sexton, Ashlee Sexton; 15 great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Nathaniel, Jordin, Kadence, Paul, Wyatt, Liam, Cody, Elijiah, Dakota, Lillian, Shawn, Izaya, Nilese, La Jea; one brother Jonathan “Bimbo” Welch and his wife Valerie of Santa Maria, CA; three sisters: Sharon Spratley, and Bernice Sanders and her husband Bob all of Modesto, CA, and Tina McHarg and her husband Don of Coultersville, CA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
According to Barbara’s wishes her body will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life service at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Pitts Chapel.
