Alberta Lucille Carr, 83, died Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO surrounded by her family.
Alberta was born on November 14, 1940 in Orangesburg, South Carolina to Eloise Thompson and her step-father. She attended Edisto Schools in Orangeburg. She moved to Charleston, South Carolina in her early adult years. While living there, she met the love of her life, Ford E. Carr at church, and they married November 29, 1961. Shortly after marrying, she moved to Harrison, AR, where Ford was from while he was deployed. They had 3 children together, Ford, Cheryl, and Belenda. In the late mid 60s, they moved to the Springfield area, where she resided until she passed.
Alberta loved her family more than anything. She was always right there to help with whatever needed to be done. She enjoyed cooking, and would make sure you didn’t go hungry. She is best known for her fried chicken and southern sweet tea. She loved gardening and the outdoors. She also loved fishing and could scale fish faster than anybody. She had the opportunity to baby sit her grand children and one of her great-grand children, which she loved being able to do.
Alberta is preceded in death by her husband, Ford E. Carr, her mother Eloise, brother G.C., her grandson, Brandon, and great grandson, Patrick.
Alberta is survived by her son Ford L. Carr and his three children Denise and husband Phil, Dalton and significant other Emily, and BreeAnna and husband Matt; her daughter Cheryl L. Carr Bruette and her three children Jamie, Robert and wife Naomi, and Elijah and wife Megan; her youngest daughter Belenda S. Carr Eddy and her three children Colton, Cameron, and Carson; and her great-grandchildren: Robbie, Moxie, Nate, Harrison, Katherine, Elizebeth, Miles, Nicholas, and Eloise. She is also survived by her sisters Blanche and Louise, and brother Charles.
Services for Alberta will be at 12:00 pm Friday November 24, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00 pm on Friday prior to the service in the funeral home. Graveside services will be following the service on Friday November 24, 2023 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
