Mrs. Annis Marie (Osborn) Charles, age 83, of Bolivar, MO, died Monday, October 12, 2009, in St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Springfield, MO. She was born December 14, 1925, Bush City, Kansas, to Orval and Imogene (Smith) Osborn. She lived in Bush City, Kansas, and attended school at Kincaid Kansas High School, where she graduated in 1943. She went to Kansas City, MO, and worked as a lady butcher. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee Charles of Blue Mound, Kansas September 13, 1944, while he was in the U.S. Navy. To this union three children were born. She was a Sunday school teacher for the 3 to 4 year olds at Watson Memorial Methodist Church in Independence, MO, and served as the secretary of the Luff Elementary PTA.
Annis loved to and was very good at painting, crafts, gardening, and planting flowers. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating with her family, and loved to cook. She has traveled all over the United States. She loved and lived for her family, and was perfect in everything she did.
Her parents; her son Terry Lee Charles on March 3, 2001; a sister Maybelle Wilson; and two brothers: Marion and Calvin Osborn precede her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ken of the home; two daughters: Sharon Rae Pangborn and husband Edward of Bolivar, MO, and Carolyn Sue Lusk and husband John of Polk, MO; a grandson Jason W. Sales of Springfield, MO; and a great granddaughter Brookelynn Sue of Springfield, MO; her beloved cat Pookie; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be profoundly missed by all.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Greenwood Cemetery with Bro. Jack Brakebill officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Fowler, Gordon Hill, and Dale Johnson. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2009, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either of the Shriners Hospital, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Polk County Humane Society c/o the funeral home.
