Barbara Jean Nobles Baker, 83, of Springfield, MO passed away Monday, February 8, 2016. She was born June 28, 1932 in Springfield, MO to Clarence F. Nobles and Verna Marie Wagner Nobles. She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her five siblings; Shirley, Mike, Robert and Connie.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years Jim and two sons Eric and Bryan and their families.
She graduated from Central High School in Springfield and began her work career a Medical Technician which she continued in her marriage until she chose a higher calling as a full time mother to her two sons. She married her husband, James Baker, in Las Vegas, NV in 1955 while he was serving in the United States Air Force.
Barbara was saved at home at an early age under her mother’s instructions. She was zealous for the Lord from that time onward. She became a highly effective and beloved teacher, especially of the children. She was an active soul winner and encourager in the faith throughout her life. In the beginning years of her marriage she helped, with her husband and others, to plant a new church in Las Vegas. She held other positions in the church over the years also.
Barbara will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her as a wife, mother, family and friend. To be absent in the body is to be present with Lord. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.
A private graveside service will be held. No viewing or visitation is planned.
