Barbara Sue Freeman, 75, of Springfield, MO went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was born in Springfield, MO on January 10, 1944 to Frank and Betty Jane Sartin. Upon Betty’s second marriage to Irvin E. McFadden he became her true loving and caring father.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, and first-born son Brian Keith Freeman.
She is survived by her husband Darrell, sons; Gene and wife Sandra, Darren and wife Kathern, daughters; Debbie Hedden and fiancé David Meyer, DeLisa Skinner and husband Wes. “Granny Barb” to 13 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren. Sisters Tela Smith and Erva Jones and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was lovingly referred to as “Granny Barb” by several neighborhood children and the many children she cared for while working eight years as Bus Aide with OACAC head start. A host of family and friends including special neighbors Dave Ruppert and Nancy Zrubek.
Barbara always expressed the true meaning of the words, “I love you” by living each day touching each person she met, especially little children. She would always say, “They just needed a little extra love.” She was a living testimony to 1st Corinthians chapter 13.
Barbara’s family would like to give a special thank you to the caring staff on the 6th and 7th floor at Mercy Hospital and the condolences received from many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 am with services to immediately follow at 11:00 am at Crossway Baptist Church located at 2900 N. Barnes Ave, Springfield, MO 65803. Burial will be at Greenlawn North Cemetery.
