Betty was born on July 10, 1938, in Clarksburg, Missouri, to Herbert and Della (Gump) Carpenter. Betty was a graduate of Clarksburg High School. Betty married Dewey Milo Rumfelt in September 1958 and to this union two children were born: Dewey and Velda. Betty also had one son, Carl Lee, born July 1957, who was adopted.
Betty loved animals and nature. Betty loved people, but she loved her grandsons so much. Betty also held her son, Dewey, very close to her heart. She loved to take photos of family and trips. Betty was very adventurous; she even took a trip to the Holy Land by herself.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Velda Joy Rumfelt; grandson, Joshua Andrew Rumfelt; sister, Jane Breshers; her husbands: Dewey Rumfelt and Jesse Brown, and special friend, Jack Hendricks.
Betty is survived by her son, Dewey Rumfelt, and wife, Teresa, of Fair Play, Missouri; grandsons: James William Rumfelt, and significant other, Mandy Vickers, Casey Allen Rumfelt, and wife, Sheila, and Shane Charles Rumfelt, and wife, Deborah; great-grandsons: Aidan, Brennin, Cael, Decker, Eli, Ian, Owen, Jex, and soon to be, Cade; brothers: Herbert Carpenter and George Carpenter, and numerous other family and friends.
A visitation for Betty will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, MO. A Celebration of Life service for Betty will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Hermitage Nursing and Rehab in Hermitage, MO, and at 2:00 p.m., Oakland Baptist Church in Clarksburg, MO. Betty will be laid to rest at Hickman Cemetery in Clarksburg, MO at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to any mental health organization or suicide prevention organization of your choice.
