Betty Jane Miller passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2015. She was born in Springfield, Missouri on April 25, 1923 to Elsie Susan Coley and William Samuel Coley, Sr.
Betty graduated from Springfield High School in 1940. She worked as a car hop at Ray Coley’s Restaurant, owned by her uncle. During World War II, she took great pride in her work as a telephone operator. Betty worked at Lily Tulip during the 1960s. For many years, Betty was an active member of Campbell United Methodist Church, cherishing her Sunday school friends.
Betty loved square-dancing, supporting the MSU Lady Bears, traveling, camping, Branson shows, garage-sales, roses, robins, and playing bridge. One of Betty’s greatest gifts was bringing her family together. She created fond family memories by organizing vacations at the lake, at Branson resorts, and numerous camping trips. A holiday was not complete without eating her beloved chicken and noodles. She was a beacon of light everywhere she went. People gravitated toward her. She loved all people as Jesus Christ demonstrates his love for us. She leaves a legacy of love.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John R. Miller. She is survived by her children, Patti Tourville of Springfield, MO; John M. Miller and wife Glenda of Branson, MO; Mark Miller and Gail Griffin of Shell Knob, MO; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
