Betty Lee Bates Droessler, 85, was born August 5th, 1929, in Springfield, MO. Betty passed away at 8:10 am on January 9, 2015, from complications from the flu. A native of Springfield, MO., Betty’s life after graduating from Springfield High School included living in many parts of the country, as well as Sasebo, Japan for a few years. Her working career was spent mostly in the banking industry, retiring as an Assistant Operations Manager for Bank of America in Long Beach, CA. Upon retiring Betty Lee and devoted husband, Arnold Droessler, returned to home here in the Ozarks.
Betty was a dear and loving person, with an amazing sense of humor, a contagious smile and a very loving heart to all of her family, friends and everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all. She was an amazing cook and was quite famous for her deviled eggs and homemade coconut cream pies. She was a very sweet lady!
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold J. Droessler; her father, Freeman Bates and her mother, Nadine Bates, and her sister, Shirley Hook. She is survived by her sons, Joe Don Rhoads and wife Carol, of Avondale, AZ. Jack L. Rhoads of Springfield, MO; and step daughter, Julie Annis and husband John of Lake Stevens, WA; two half-sisters: Suzanne Bates of Minneapolis, MN and Sharon Bates Benton, of Springfield, MO; grandchildren Joshua Rhoads and Wife Erin, Tyler Rhoads, Clayton Rhoads, Don Pearcy and Wife Jackie, and Misty Rhoads; great-granddaughters, Chelsea Sowder and Husband Bryan and Lucy Rhoads. great-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, Abi-Grace and Luke Sowder; and many nephews, nieces and other family members.
Visitation will be from 12:00 -1:00 pm followed immediately by a memorial service on Thursday, January 15,2015 at Greenlawn North, 3506 N. National Blvd., Springfield, MO.
