Beverly J. Hindman, “Mamaw”, 74, returned to her heavenly home on January 2, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer with her family by her side. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God and the Catholic Church, supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Beverly was born to the late Jerlie and Lorene Baldwin, a farmer and a nurse respectively, in Greenfield, Mo on June 14, 1940. She was immersed in love by her parents, which in turn helped her become the most caring, loving mother imaginable. Beverly and her parents, including older sister, Betty, moved from Dadeville, Mo then ultimately to Springfield Mo. Beverly attended Fairbanks Elementary; Pipkin Junior High; Central High School; and then SMS where she studied art, in addition to being a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
Beverly was blessed with a large and loving family, along with many friends, including close, life-long friends, Beverly Woodall and Judy Bellm. She married her best friend, Frank Hindman, on January 30, 1971 in Springfield, Mo. Frank helped raise her four children, with deep love, patience, and understanding. From the very beginning, Beverly dedicated her life to her children and encouraged them to explore the beauty of life and all it has to offer. Beverly worked for many years at the Dept Of Revenue, retiring in 1998 after 24 years of service, and was a devoted volunteer at St Joseph’s Church, which she loved dearly. But her main focus was always her children and grandchildren.
Beverly is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. Beverly is survived by her husband of 44 years, Frank; her sons Tyler King and his wife Kim; Brian King and his chihuahua Chickie Boom-Boom; Steven King and his wife Liesl; daughter Jana Leighton and her husband J. Her grandchildren Ben Leighton and his wife Cassie, Jordan Leighton and his wife Alicia, Elyse Nelson, and her husband Anthony Nelson, Evan King, Karleen King, McKenzie King, Travis King, Chelsea Goodin and her husband Tyler, Austin King, Jessica King, Sydney King; her great-grandchildren Aundrea Nelson, Ahsan Nelson, Avi Nelson, Lilli Leighton, Lydia Goodin, Gunnar Goodin, Samuel Leighton, and Wren Leighton. Her nephew John Foust; niece Monica Carson; niece Ann Canon, and her cousin Mabel “Poozie” Gay. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Betty; and her beloved dog, Harry, who is, no less, waiting for her in a field of beautiful Midwestern wildflowers. Visitation for Beverly will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East from 6-8 p m January 8. Funeral services will be at St Joseph’s Church Friday Jan 9 at 10am, with Fr Denis Dougherty officiating. The family would like to express great gratitude for the care and compassion given by Hospice Compassas. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Judes Children’s Research Hospital (ST JUDE.ORG), St Joseph’s Church (ST JOSEPHSPMO.ORG) or plants would be greatly appreciated.
