My condolences to the family. I just found this now, but I see it's been 3 years. I had her as my English teacher at Evangel College my freshman or sophomore year. I was just now remembering her and some of her funny ways of communicating. Proof that she touched my life and many others. God bless you and her memory. Sweet lady.

Dear Tony, Robbee, grandchildren and extended family. I was thinking of your Mother and planning a trip to Branson and figured I would stop by and see her but while searching for her address my heart sunk when I found her obituary. Your Mom changed my life while I was at Evangel in the 80's. God spoke to her about me before I even arrived on campus. I will never forget her many hours of prayers that brought much healing and deliverance to my life. She always loved me unconditionally. I spent hours in her office with her praying over me in the spirit. We cried together, laughed together and celebrated together. All those weekends at your home exploring the property and just having fun. She always made me feel safe and loved and I definitely learned how to pray from the strongest most consistent prayer warrior I knew. Sometimes when I would be at your house I would just sit in the other room and listen to her pray in the spirit. Communion with God was her love language. At times she would be doing the dishes and praying in the spirit and I use to think, I want to be like her. I now do the same thing or when the Lord nudges me to pray for someone I do it then and don't wait. It might be in the grocery store or the post office. I will always cherish her wisdom and her compassion. She saved my life in many ways and she knew it but never boasted about it because it was her ministry. The 4th of July with your neighbors. Yes, I still remember and your dance recitals Robbee. She helped me cope with my sisters death and so many other heart breaking issues. She just told me a couple of years ago that she finally threw away my research paper that I did on the life of Mr Fred Rogers. I was shocked she had kept it all these years. I was elated when you guys came to my wedding in St Louis. I could write a book about my memories with her. I loved her more than I can express. I know I will see her in heaven one day and that gives me great comfort. My prayers for comfort, hope and healing during this time of great loss for all of you. Love you always, Rhonda

Billie Jo was one of my teachers at Strafford High School. My attitude about school in those day, was less than motiavated, but after having Ms. Dishman's class and than being involved in several school plays she directed, my attitude changed She made me believe I could achieve anything I wanted. After graduation I joined the Army and overy my career achieved the rank of Colonel and obtain a BS in Criminal Justice and a M.ED. in Rehabiitation COunseling. I say this only becuse I owe most of motivation for my success to this sweet lady.

I so enjoyed the years with Billie Jo in the old barracks at Evangel. She will be missed, he laughter, her smile, and her dedication to her students, the Humanities Department and Evangel University.
Nathan Nelson left a message on July 14, 2020:
What a sweet, dear heart has left us! My colleague at Evangel for 16 years, Billie Jo had the biggest smile in the Humanities Department and loved to laugh. I can still hear in memory the special sort of merriment that spilled out of her office or rang down the hallway, and I miss it, along with the sounds of the deep, prayerful concern she was so quick to show to students in distress. Billie Jo taught down-to-earth wisdom as well as writing; patience as well as grammatical precision; and Christian love as well as literature. She was, as thousands of students will attest, a treasure. – Nathan Nelson

My fondest memories of Billie Jo come from the Humanities department meetings held in the old Humanities Barracks. Her laugh would echo down the hallway.
