Today, January 29, 2016, my hero, my knight in shining armor, confidant, friend, my love and my husband went to be with our Heavenly Father. Billy was born November 8, 1947 in Niangua, MO. Billy was an avid golfer, bowler (acquiring 2- 3000 series rings). He loved to fish and hunt. He grew the most beautiful gardens with bountiful fruits and vegetables. He enjoyed being outdoors. Billy loved God, family and his country. Billy served in the US Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and several other medals. Numerous times he would tell family, friends and strangers, “I would do it again”. He considered friends to be family.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lola Stewart; Father-in-law Robert, Sr. and Margaret Pittman; daughter Sandra Diebel; brothers Tommy, Bobby, Kenneth, Larry and Mark; sisters Nancy Robertson and husband Bones and Lena Johnson; and nieces Laura Dowler and Paula Robertson-Moore.
Billy loved family get-togethers. At one of our 4th of July celebrations at Ritter Springs Park there were over 150 family members in attendance. Billy enjoyed making people laugh. Billy was a mason, owning his own masonry business; he was a perfectionist at this. Billy is survived by his wife Sherry of 23 years; son Charles; daughter Sherry Lynn, and son Cory; two granddaughters, Zalena and Emalee Diebel. Brother Keith and wife Caroll of Olathe, KS, sister Marcella and husband Joe Brooks of Raymore, Mo; sister Karen and husband Stanley Bisher of Springfield, MO; sisters-in-law Ann, Cheryl, Barbara, Phylis Dudley (Gary); brother-in-law Robert Pittman, Jr. (Linda); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn North February 2, 2016 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Scott Killingsworth and full military honors will be on Feb. 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM. The family wishes to thank Pastor Scotty Killingsworth and Sac River Cowboy Church, Dr. Rao and nurse Debra, Harry S. Truman VA and Intrepid Hospice for their love and support.
