Bill L. Green

Billy Lee Green passed away on October 20, 2021 at his home of 64 years with family by his side.
Bill was born July 2, 1932 in Springfield, MO the 2nd son of the late Charles George Green and Lora Lee Green (Smith). He was proceeded in death by his older brother, Charles Green Jr.
Bill graduated from Willard High School in 1950, joined the Naval Reserves in 1952, and met the love of his life Donna Lou Chapman. Bill and Donna married on September 5, 1953 in Harrison, Arkansas. Bill was drafted into the Navy 120 days later and served on the U.S.S. Corry DDR-817 out of Norfolk, Virginia. Bill traveled the world while in the Navy. He toured in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and many more. Bill would tell many stories of his travels to his family and spoke of writing letters weekly back home to his new wife, Donna.
Bill and Donna shared two children together, Steven Allen Green and Vanessa Lynn White (Green).
Bill had many loved hobbies including camping at the lake, skiing, fishing, bowling, golfing, and motorcycling. He took great pride in his honorary membership in the Masons and Shriners from 1968 to his death and had recently received his 50-year pin.
Bill retired from Ballew Saw & Tool where he enjoyed a career in Sales for 28 years. He retired at the age of 82 years to care for his wife Donna, who proceeded him in death on August 12, 2015 after 62 years together.
Bill is survived by his son, Steven Green of Springfield, MO and daughter Vanessa White (Green) and her husband, Robert White of Cabool, Mo. Grandchildren: Brooke Mosley of Marshfield, MO, Landon Hull of Cabool, MO, Brandon White of Jefferson City, MO, Stephanie LaPlante of Hollister, MO, Jennifer Fief of Colorado Springs, CO, and Steven Z. Green of Elkland, MO. He has an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren and one on the way even.
