Billy Ray Gibson (US Navy) passed away at age 77 on February 18, 2021 in Lebanon, MO. He was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on October 30, 1943.
Billy left high school in order to serve his country. He served his tour of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Ranger as an airplane mechanic and a chauffeur for the admiral. After leaving the Navy he worked for many years as a welder at the Paul Mueller Company before enjoying his retirement.
Billy was proceeded in death by his parents, John David Gibson and Lillie Mae (Breedlove) Gibson, his brother Jesse (Bobby) Robert Gibson (US Army),
Billy is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee (Robinson) Gibson of Springfield MO, His sister-in-law Nancy Lee (Berry) Gibson of Marthaville, LA, his three children, Daughter & Son-in-law Tracy and Jeff Bieri of California, MO, Son & Daughter-in-law John David and Cynthia Gibson of Warr Acres, OK, and Son Billy Jo Gibson of Marshfield, MO. His grandchildren Paige (Brown) and Husband Justin Gibson of Ozark, MO, Jessica Stirn of Warrensberg, MO, BJ Gibson of Halfway, MO, and Megan Gibson of Warr Acres, OK. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Our family would like to offer a few words of appreciation to the caregivers from Lebanon North Nursing & Rehab. Anyone who knew Billy knew that he could be a hand full, but the staff at Lebanon North were up for the challenge. We cannot thank them enough for making him comfortable and caring for the family member we loved so much.
Per Billy’s wishes, he will be cremated and taken back home where his heart always was, in Louisiana. He is loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
