Bret departed this life on March 12, 2015 at an early age to join his mother, Loretta K. Bodenhamer in a better place. He is survived by his father, Ted, one son, Brian Bodenhamer of Springfield, one brother, Chris O. Bodenhamer of Springfield, two sisters, Traci and her husband Aaron (Chris) Albright of Port Charlotte, FL, and Gina and her husband Dale Raasch of Bridgewater, Iowa. He is also survived by three nieces, Alicia Stokes, Kendal Dotson of KY., and Jessica Bodenhamer of Texas; two nephews, Nathan Stokes of Springfield and Brad Dotson of Iowa; three aunts, Karen Andrews, Vickie Alexander, and Carolynn Thornhill. Bret had many cousins and friends that will miss him. Bret is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hazel Kerkemeyer, and Jewell and Maxine Bonat, and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Alice Bodenhamer, and one cousin, Kevin Pretti. Bret attended Hillcrest High School before moving to Pleasant Hope where he graduated. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Our thanks goes out to all the people who made life easier; AAA Transportation, Springfield Skilled Nursing facility, and Fresenius Dialysis Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or to the Springfield Kidney Foundation. Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
