Bruce Robert Daniel was born on May 21, 1956 in Springfield, Missouri to Donald and Marjorie Daniel. He passed away peacefully on November 23, 2019 in Springfield.
He was a 1974 Graduate of Hillcrest High School. Bruce graduated, with his Bachelor’s degree, from Southwest Missouri State University, his Master’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and continued post graduate studies at the University of Kansas.
Bruce was a lover of the outdoors, particularly fishing with his Granny. He always looked forward to spending time with his family at Christmas and especially enjoyed Emily’s pecan pie. His true passion, speech and debate, began in high school and continued through his educational and professional career, culminating with his becoming the longest serving faculty member in the College of Social Sciences at the University of West Georgia. Bruce loved sharing his knowledge of everything he had learned with his students; this extended beyond the classroom. He regularly took time out of his days to help a neighbor learn English so she could continue her education.
Bruce was a fiercely loyal man with a deep love for his family and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, bonus Dad, James McClurg, bonus brother, David McClurg, and his nephew, Jamie Wicks.
He is survived by his sister, Janet Wicks (Jack), bonus sister, Cheryl Arthur (Frank), his nephews, Jeff Wicks (Bub Powell), and Jeremy Wicks (Emily), their children, Lily and Savannah, and numerous other family and friends.
