Burney Sheridan Choate born December 12th, 1924. He died June 25th, 2016 at 3:10 a.m. at the age of 91 years old. His parents were Philip Sheridan Choate and Ida Rebecca Garrett. Two brothers survive him, Raymond “Bud” Choate and William “Slim” Choate.
He was a Surgical Technician in England during World War II from 1944 to 1945. In 1947 he married Dorothy Aline Barber and they had two children, Timothy and Deborah. Dorothy went to be with The Lord in 2009. Deborah joined her in 2014. Burney worked at Maytag and Lily Tulip.
He was a minister for over 65 years. He mainly was a Bible teacher to the Adult Class. But at times he also preached. Burney was also a ham radio operator and quickly joined a group called HAMS FOR CHRIST, where he made many friends. They would talk each afternoon on the 40 meter band Monday through Saturday. Burney loved reading The Bible and books about The Bible. Even towards the last, with poor eyesight, he read his Bible books on a Kindle tablet which increased the size of the words. Burney played the guitar but could play any stringed instrument including a fiddle. He could also play the piano, organ and harmonica. He wrote many songs and poems. He has a website at:

Burney will be available for the public to pay their respects on Tuesday June 28 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm AT Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 29 at 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
