Carolyn Sue Napolitano passed from this life on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 4:20 a.m. at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer at the young age of 67. She was born December 26, 1951 in Aurora, Missouri. Carolyn’s parents were Orville and Marguerite Johnson. She was the 9th born of 10 children. Carolyn received Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12 at Chesapeake Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Missouri.
She was united in marriage on July 29, 1994 to Mike Napolitano. They would have celebrated 25 years of marriage.
Carolyn loved her church, Sunday School Class, Bible Studies, traveling, flowers, and getting together with family and friends. Carolyn loved the Lord and it showed in everything she done.
Carolyn is survived by her best friend and love of her life Mike; three step-children, Kristen Gruendler husband Jason, Lori Bodi husband Paul, Tony Napolitano wife Cherry; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. They knew her as “Granny Carolyn”. She is also survived by her sisters Vivian Hendrickson , Alice Rodgers and one brother Ralph Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Shirley White, Pat Dickinson, Orvalyn Daniels, Mary Byrd, and twin Marilyn Herndon, and brother Larry Johnson.
Carolyn was employed for over 30 years by Litton-Northrop Grumman where she worked in the human resources department. She also worked in Springfield Public Schools where she was a school secretary for 10 years. Carolyn also volunteered at Chub O’Reilly Cancer Center in the infusion area. Carolyn would often volunteer, sit down and take her chemo, and then volunteer again. She used her volunteer serving to be a witness for the Lord. . She would always put others first. Carolyn was a long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
Services for Carolyn will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with burial following at Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday July 29 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
