Cecil Elvin Lines, age 86 of Nixa, MO passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Cox Medical Center South. He was born August 19, 1928, in St. Clair County, MO, to Marva and Elsie (Barnett) Lines. He was a member of the Watermill church Of Christ and served as an Elder for many years at the Bolivar church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Cecil was a member of the Rotary club and the V.F.W in Osceola, MO. where he served as Fire Chief of the Osceola Voluntary Fire Department. He retired after 30 years of service for GT & E. Cecil and Marieta served as foster parents in St. Clair County and supported Fair Haven Children’s Home for many years.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; Marieta Lines a sister Rosalene Lines, and one step-daughter Jacquelyn Snider. He is survived by his wife Mary Charlotte Lines; Daughter Lisa Stokes, her husband Ron, and their children: Sarah and Dustin; Son Paul Lines, his wife Carrie, and their children Charlyn, Luke and Ben; and by 2 great-grandchildren Cooper and Carson. He is also survived by a Brother Hubert Lines. Cecil also leaves behind 2 step sons; Tim and Ron Snider, 10 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2015 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with Dennis Smith and Bill McFarland officiating. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Children’s Home.
