Charles Gillham age 75, passed from this life on June 27, 2015, at 4:58 a.m. Born in Springfield to Paul E. and Lorene (Stafford) Gillham on August 28, 1939.
Charles (Eddie) graduated in 1957 from Fair Grove High School. He attended S.M.S. for a short time and spent some time in the Army, followed by several years as a Army Reservist. Ed retired in 2001 from Burlington Nortern Santa Fe Railroad after 41 years of service. He loved his job and missed all of his railroad buddies and all of their great railroad tall tales.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Paul and his mother Lorene Gillham, and a step-grandson, Nathan Coffman. He will be remembered as a giving man, caring father and grandfather and a loving husband.
A true “Mr. Fix It” Ed is survived by his devoted wife Carolyn, daughter Lisa Coffman and her husband Randell, step children; Kelly Wittrock and her husband; Tom, Ken Browning and his wife, Amy, his grandchildren: Brandon White and Kayla, Mack Browning, Brittany Baxter and her husband Jacob, and one great-grandson; Taven White, a sister Jeanette Comisky, and her husband, Charles, a brother, Stanley Gillham and his wife Linda.
No visitation is planned. Funeral services will be Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. A special thank you to Dr. William Matthews and the compassionate staff at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimers Association in Charles’s name.
