Charles Lee Dixon, 83, closed his eyes on earth and opened them wide to the splendor of heaven on June 20, 2016. Charles was born on July 6, 1932, near Walnut Grove, Missouri. He was a faithful husband and best friend to his wife of 57 years, and a devoted family man to his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles put his faith in Jesus Christ as a young man and it changed his life from that day forward. Until his faith would be made sight, he determined to serve the church, teaching Sunday school for 55 years and serving as a deacon at Springhill Baptist Church. One of his great joys was founding Springfield’s Live Nativity Pageant, which brought the story of Jesus to the Ozarks for more than 30 years. He loved seeing shows in Branson, riding roller coasters at Silver Dollar City, and watching the Lady Bears play basketball. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lindsey Dixon. He is survived by daughter Cozetta Jones and husband Steve; daughter Belinda Ward and husband Roy; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, June 24, from 5-7 PM, and to the funeral service on Saturday, June 25, at 10 AM, both at Springhill Baptist Church.
