Born on October 10, 2003, in Springfield, Missouri, Cody Scott McConnell brought joy and laughter into the lives of those around him. On September 15, 2023, we bid farewell to this remarkable young man as he departed this earthly realm and embarked on his journey beyond.
Cody was a beacon of light, with a spirit that radiated compassion and warmth. With his infectious laughter and quick wit, he had the incredible ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone he encountered. His passion for music was unparalleled, and his melodic voice and rhythmic talent on the drums could captivate any listener. Whether he was in a professional setting or simply playing for his family and friends, Cody’s musical prowess knew no bounds. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2022.
Beneath his mischievous nature, Cody possessed a heart of gold. He had an unwavering love for dogs, always eager to meet and shower them with affection. His kind soul touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Early on, his Nana Janice McConnell took a special place in his heart. Despite the many health challenges Cody faced, he never wavered in his enthusiasm for life. With the love and support of his family, as well as his dear friends, Ms. Sarah Evans, Ms. Sarah “the Para”, and Ms. Megan, he faced each obstacle with unwavering courage and resilience.
Cody’s memory will forever be cherished by his beloved parents, Diana and Dillon McConnell; his brothers, Devon Morgan, Bradley Morgan, Brady Morgan, Joseph Dowler, and Joshua Dowler; his sisters, Abigail Dowler-Wethey and Janice McConnell; his grandmothers, Teresa Davis and Amy Walker; his aunts, Sachet Davis and Kay Elliot; uncle Carl Howard; and his brother-in-law, Nate Wethey. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to resonate within their hearts.
Cody was greeted into heaven by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Janice McConnell; an aunt, Bonnie Hendrix; and a cousin, Junior Hilles.
Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Cody are cordially invited to honor and celebrate his life. Cody’s family will receive visitors at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North on September 19, 2023, starting at 10:00 am till 12:00 pm. We will then gather at Antioch Cemetery at 12:30 pm for a graveside service, where we will lay Cody’s earthly remains to rest in eternal peace.
Cody Scott McConnell has departed from this world, but his memories and the love he shared will forever be etched in our hearts. As we gather to bid him farewell, let us celebrate his vibrant spirit, his love of life, and the legacy he leaves behind. May his soul find solace in the realms beyond, and may we honor his memory by embracing every joyous moment life has to offer.
