2 Corinthians 5 (NLT)
“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down, we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies. While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit”
Dale R. Johnson passed from this life on May 2, 2019, at his home in Blue Eye Missouri after waging a valiant war with cancer. He was born in 1947 in Wellington, Kansas to W.J. and Betty Johnson. Dale leaves behind his wife of forty years, Marilyn, his daughter Lindsi (Devin), his son Christopher Thompson (Jennifer), much loved grandchildren Hannah Gilmore (Garrett) and Hunter Thompson, mother Betty Johnson, sister Wilberta Goff (Kelly), sister-in-law Ruth Johnson, three nephews, two nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his father W.J. and brother, John Johnson.
Dale graduated from high school in Caldwell, Kansas, served in the Kansas Air National Guard with active duty in Korea and received a B.S. in Computer Science from Emporia State Teacher’s College. He spent his career in various positions within the IT field with companies in Kansas, Colorado and Arkansas. He retired from Bridgestone Americas Tube Business, Russellville, Arkansas, in 2015 and settled on the edge of Table Rock Lake.
His favorite pastime was sitting on the deck with family and friends, talking about fishing a lot more than he actually ever went. Beneath his quiet exterior was the mischievous, daring adventurer that his family loved and will miss the most. His escapades are legend and will be recounted on the deck for years to come. He was a Jeep enthusiast, private pilot, boating daredevil, mountain man extraordinaire, reluctant home renovator, life coach, central control for all things electronic and rescuer of kittens (literally).
His favorite quote comes from McDonnell Douglas:
“Capture a Sunset, ride with the wind, taste freedom only the eagle has known. For yours is the freedom of knowing you have flown.”
