Patricia Ileen (Purdy) Green, 77, passed to eternal life on July 14, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 29, 1939 in Whittier, California, to Homer and Murl Purdy, the oldest of five children.
She is survived by her loving husband of over fifty-eight years, Daniel Webster Green. They were married on November 8, 1957 in the Whittier First Assembly of God Church (California).
She graduated from Whittier High School, California State University-Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Religious Studies, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology.
Although she raised her family in Southern California, in 1977, they transferred to the Ozarks, living in Springfield and Nixa thereafter.
She was quite engaged in local congregations throughout her childhood and adult life. As a teen, she served as the president of her “Christ Ambassadors” youth group, and as an adult, she was faithful in worship attendance, prayer, teaching children, and the encouragement of pastors. She had a special place in her heart to pray for and bless missionaries, supporting them in a variety of practical ways. She practiced hospitality for friends and family. She was a Stephen Minister, a Hospice volunteer, and a leader in the Evangel University Auxiliary. She worked for the Springfield Public Schools and was an adjunct professor for Central Bible College and Evangel University.
Pat is survived by her three sons: Daniel Wayne and wife, Cindy, of Springfield; David Alan of Nixa; and Douglas Edwin and wife, Brenda, of Brea, California. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Kati Ileen and husband, Justin Cranmer; Ashly Merleen and husband, Brandon Newlon; Jocelyn Marie; Charisse Elizabeth, and husband, Chris Groh; and Paul Douglas. Additionally, she is survived by five great-grandchildren: Madison Bella, Caleb Jeremiah, Gideon Elijah, Lily Grace, and Oliver Lee. Finally, she is survived by three sisters: Deanna Gaar of Branson, Missouri; Sharon Swodeck of La Habra, California; Susan Carrigan of Bakersfield, California; and one brother, Homer Purdy, Jr. of Ogden, Utah.
We will miss Pat in this earthly life, longing to see her again in eternity, reunited with loved ones in our Heavenly Father’s house, joining in the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
