Darrel Eugene Brake, age 69 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in his home on Saturday, March 23, 2019 with his family at his side. Darrel Eugene Brake, age 69 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in his home on Saturday, March 23, 2019 with his family at his side. He was born on April 5, 1949 in Ava, Missouri, to Maloy Eugene Brake and Barbara Ann (Marler) Brake.
Darrel was united in marriage to Debrah Ann (Hale) on December 16, 1967, enjoying almost 52 years together.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, daughter-in- law, and two grandchildren. He was a member of One Life Church. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grand babies.
Darrel is survived by his wife Debrah (Hale) Brake and three children: William and Jennifer Brake of Battlefield MO, Michael and Christy Brake of Ozark MO, and Tammy (Brake) and Mike Tate of Brookline MO, thirteen Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Carol (Brake) and Dewayne Huffman of Republic MO, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Betty Brake of Springfield MO, an aunt and uncle Lula Mae (Marler) and Jess Mack of Springfield, a brother and sister- in- law Jerry and Brenda Sparkman of Kimberling City MO, and several extended family members.
Darrel was a member of the Battlefield Fire Protection District for 25 years and served as Assistant Chief for many years dedicating his time to the community and fellow Fire Fighters. Darrel worked for Frisco and BNSF Railroad for 33 years as a Locomotive Engineer in Springfield MO. He retired in August of 2006.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 on Wednesday March 27, 2019. Funeral will begin at 1:30 pm following visitation at Greenlawn Funeral Home East located at 3540 E. Seminole Springfield, Mo. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Garden 3506 N. National Springfield, MO.
