David Bruce Wykoff, age 90, passed away and graduated to his true home in Heaven on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. His Lord and Savior Jesus touched his hands and hugged him as he was welcomed to that city that has no night.
David was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 24, 1932, in the middle of the Great Depression. He has no brothers and sisters except his fellow believers in Christ. In the 1950s he served our country for four years in the US Air Force obtaining rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a navigator on aircraft during the Korean War. David was later promoted to Captain as a Reserve of the Air Force in 1962.
David earned his bachelors’ degree and was a public school teacher at various locations in Missouri and in California. In time, David moved to the Springfield, Missouri area to help his parents as they dealt with illness.
David never married and has no children. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cecelia Wykoff, and then by his Father, John Wykoff. David attended the Christian Church at different times in his life and attended a men’s Bible study on a regular basis for these last several years. David believed on Jesus Christ and had accepted him as his Lord.
Ballroom dancing was a recreation that David enjoyed and was proficient at for decades. He danced until about three years ago when balance became too difficult.
David remained in Springfield until his passing away into the arms of his heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
Visitation for David will be 9:00 – 9:30 am, Wednesday, January 11, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with service following at 9:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
