Dear Dale and Margie, I was shocked and saddened when I opened the Manson Journal and saw Debbie’s obituary. This isn’t supposed to happen to us this soon. I just spent an hour looking through old Manson High School yearbooks. Debbie was in so many pictures. I remember those music contests when she was rushing from room to room with her hands full of music, accompanying the rest of us, while she was also performing her own solos and groups. (Margie, I think you were the accompanist for the groups she was in.) I also remember the plays and musicals we were in together. She was truly a Renaissance woman and the most talented member of our class. My lasting memory of Debbie, however, is her radiant smile that could light up a room. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

I am very sorry for your family’s loss. I worked with Deb many nights in the ED. I always knew the night would be better if she was at guest relations. She was a very special woman. On slow nights we would talk for hours. She was very proud of her family and talked about them every time I worked with her. I’m so very glad that her and Dale were finally able to make the move to Missouri to be closer and have that time together. She will be missed by many.

We are so saddened by the sudden death of Deb. Deb was a volunteer at St. Luke’s in the ED for over 3 years and donated almost 300 hours. She was consequently hired in the ED because of all the wonderful traits that you named in her obituary. She truly was one of the kindest souls I have had the pleasure to know. I would often stop and chat with Deb on my way out of the hospital after late night volunteer orientations. She would share stories of her children and grandchildren and just how much they meant to her. She loved you all deeply. She will be missed.

I never met you Debra, but I can say with absolute certainty that your husband cherished you. The sadness in his voice when he called the rescue was clear, and I wish only the best for your family. Dale, I find it exceedingly kind that in your darkest hour you chose to do something so positive in her name. For that reason we are naming our newest conure room the “Debra Rae Flight.” From all of us at A Parrot’s Perch we want to express out deepest sympathies to you and your family. Sincerely, Stephanie Chambers Director A Parrot’s Perch
