Della Mae Ramsey 92, passed away May 15,2015 with her family by her side at Mercy Hospital in Springfield Missouri
Della Mae was born October 14, 1922 to James and Della Mae Barnett in Gilbert Arkansas.
Della Mae was preceded in death by her husband James R. Ramsey On November 4, 1992 – age 73 with whom she shared a wonderful marriage of almost 50 years together. After James death his twin sister, Jessie Jackson lived with Della Mae for nearly 20 years until her passing in 2012.
Della Mae was also preceded in death by her parents and infant son Stephen, two son in laws who were very dear to her – Paul Huff & Russell Strunk. 5 brothers – James, Bill, Tom, Ben and John and one sister Genevieve Ford.
Della Mae is survived by her four children and their families. Son David Ramsey (Carol),daughters Becky Strunk, Martha Huff (Dave Cooper), Mary Bair (Wayne). Della is survived by one sister in law, Bonnie Albers of Halfway Missouri.
Della Mae was very proud of her 7 grandchildren Kevin Strunk (Nixa), Tim Bair (Jennifer) Springfield, Sandra Fanning (Jerry) Republic, Chris Bair (Tarina) Springfield, Robin Hopkins (Mark) Nixa, Erick Huff (Nell) Springfield, Brian Ramsey (Natanya) Alabama.
Della Mae always had a special place in her heart for her Nephew RJ Jackson (Barbara) of Southern California who always came back and supported and loved her dearly.
Della Mae is also survived by 15 great grandchildren plus two great-great grandchildren.
Della Mae is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Della Mae worked as a Nurses Aid for over 30 years at the St. Johns Hospital (now Mercy). Where she worked with the Cardiac patients and then with the newborn babies for many years, a job she dearly enjoyed. Della Mae retired from St Johns in 1994 to become a very busy grandma and faithful supporter and mentor to her entire family.
Della Mae was always a hard working and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and devoted follower of her extended family with all their plans and endeavors. She always had a kind and gentle spirit that will be missed by those that loved her so dearly. Her love of the Lord was always constant in her life.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and nurses of floor 7-D at Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice and Dr. Leonardo for their compassion and excellent care.
Family and Friends will have visitation on Monday May 18th at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn South, Springfield Missouri. Funeral services will follow after visitation at 2:00 PM. Short graveside service held at Greenlawn North Memorial Gardens in Springfield Missouri.
