Demetrius Darnell White, age 51, of Springfield, MO went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 11. He was born on February 8, 1970 in Kansas City, MO to Rev. W. H. & Ruby Lee White Sr.
Demetrius was very involved in his church. He helped out with the youth for a time before he became youth director for the past 5 years. He loved the kids and was burdened for the salvation and their walk with the Lord. He also stepped in as the music leader at the church for the past 1 ½ years. He had a servant’s heart and was willing to help whenever and wherever needed.
Demetrius married his high school sweetheart, Angelic C. Richardson in October of 2004 and they have 4 children; Ariel C. White, Demetrius D. White Jr., Angel C. White, and Darrison D. White. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. W. H. & Ruby White Sr. and a few siblings. He is survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
He owned quite a few furniture stores and flea markets in Springfield. He and his 2 younger children are well known for their singing as the White Family Gospel Sing. They would minister to people at different Flea Markets and had concerts in the park and at church.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Baptist Temple Church in Springfield with Dr. Mark Rounsaville and Rev. Ike Porter officiating. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Freeway Ministries or to Baptist Temple Youth.
