Dennis Richard Mace, 59, passed away October 8, 2020, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a hard fought battle with pneumonia.
Born March 23, 1961, in Springfield, Missouri to Faye and Billy Mace, he was the youngest of three.
Dennis was an avid hunter, arrowhead collector, fisherman and animal lover. He had a passion for being in the outdoors and provided his family with many meals. In his years he perfected his eye for finding authentic artifacts and was proud of each and every find. Dennis loved to go fishing, especially with his Mom and Dad. His gentle nature was evident when pets and children were drawn to him and his twinkling grin.
Dennis began his career in concrete construction at the young age of 16, learning the craft from a family friend, Ira Clark, who instilled in him the drive and skills to do beautiful and trustworthy work. His work will long be found throughout Springfield, southwest Missouri and surrounding states. He took great pride in his job and found joy in ‘playing in the mud’.
Dennis should be remembered as a man who loved his family dearly. He was funny, a bit ornery and loved to have a good time. His sense of humor and ability to make up random song lyrics were a talent all his own.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jackie Mace; his father, Billy D. Mace; his sister, Connie Mace; his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Brenda Mace; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends.
Services will be held Thursday, October 15th, 2020, at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 N National Ave., Springfield, MO.
