Denzel “Denny” Ray Fisher of Springfield, MO, age 69, died September 3, 2015 at Mercy Hospital due to cardiac arrest.
Denny is survived by his only daughter, Stacy Self; his grandson, Michael Loyd; his great- granddaughter, Heather Loyd; his great- grandson, Joshua Fisher; his sister, Marilyn Fisher Long; his brother Stanley Fisher, his sister Lana Fisher Goodwin, his brother; Randy Fisher; his brother, Tom Fisher; his sister, Myra Fisher Wollard; and several cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him greatly.
Denny was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gilliam Fisher; his son, Stephen Fisher; his son Kenneth “Scott” Fisher; his grandson, Christopher Fisher; his granddaughter Amanda Self; his parents, James Fisher and Wilma Pryor Fisher; his brothers, Glen, Charles, and Virgil Fisher; and his sisters, Joyce Fisher, Harriett Fisher Blakey, and Nancy Fisher Bullock.
Denny was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received two Purple Hearts. He grew up in Springfield, MO. Denny was the son of James Fisher and Wilma Pryor Fisher. As a child, he learned to work on cars from his father and brothers. Denny attended Reed Junior High, then proceeded to Hillcrest High School, where he graduated before enlisting in the Army. Denny worked for several local companies including Prime. Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family and friends. Denny recently earned a chip for twenty-three years of sobriety.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. He will be interred in a family plot at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
