Diane Lynette Stephens age 54, of Springfield, Mo peacefully passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father, Friday February 26, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Diane was born in Springfield, Mo on February 4, 1962. Diane graduated from Smithville High School in 1980 and then attended SMSU receiving her business degree in 1984. After graduation she began work at the Greene County Circuit Clerks Office where she met many life long friends.
She was married to Ken A. Stephens June 7, 1986 and together had two daughters and a son, Kimberlee age 25, Kaylee age 23, and Drew age 19. Diane was a kind, loving, and beautiful soul whose cheerful and positive personality touched many lives. Diane enjoyed many activities including exercising, tennis, water and snow skiing, traveling, spending time with family, being a new grandmother and she loved her cats!
Diane was saved at age 11 and currently was a faithful member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo. Throughout her life Diane has stood on the word of God and followed Him every step of the way. During her journey with cancer, her faith in God’s word and his promises were evident for others to see. She fought her fight with amazing grace and a positive attitude.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Morris E. Stephens. She is survived by her husband, Ken, daughter Kimberlee Nevins and her husband James, daughter Kaylee, son Drew, and granddaughter Emma Nevins. Her parents, Loren and Emily Stout, brothers James Stout and wife Barbara and Rodney Stout and wife Marlene. Mother-in-law Wilma Stephens, sisters-in-law Susan Gravatt and husband Dave, Ruth Medley and husband Sutton, Sharon Easter and husband Lee, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Services will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 1, 2016 5:30 – 8:00 P.M. also at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Aldrich, Mo.
