Don M. Steele, 87, joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday evening, December 17, 2018, following a short illness. Born in Batavia, Arkansas, on April 28, 1931, Don was the oldest of eight children and married Gwen A. Steele in Harrison, Arkansas in 1950.
For many years while living in Willard, MO Don supported his community and served as Willard School Board President. He loved horseback riding and taking care of his cattle, while spending his leisure hours gardening, fishing, and teaching his children to ski on nearby lakes. During his working career, he was a contractor/cabinet maker and completed his career working for Consumers, remodeling and developing grocery stores.
Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gwen. Don is survived by four sons: Mark Steele and wife Jana of Springfield, MO, Tim Steele of Raymore, MO, Kent Steele and wife Marsha of Springfield, MO, and Keith Steele and wife Judy of Rolla, MO. He was greatly loved by his four granddaughters: Lyndi Proctor of Marshfield, MO, Tiffany Steele of Peculiar, MO, Dani Jackson of St. Louis, MO, and Jeni Steele of Rolla, MO; three grandsons: Dustin Steele of Sumter, SC, Jason Steele of Branson, MO, and Ryan Steele of St. Louis, MO as well as nine great-grandchildren: Carin, Alana, Audrey, Braden, Addison, Maverick, Onyx, Jacob, and Eleanor and two great-great grandchildren: Haylee and Emery. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Don accepted Christ at a young age and was active in serving at Willard Baptist Church before moving to Springfield where he faithfully attended Second Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 21, 2018, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, with Rev. Bob Roberts officiating.
