Dr. Donald Curtis (Doc) Pearson, age 85, of Springfield, formerly of Turners, MO, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016. He was born October 19, 1930 in Joplin, Mo to Curtis and Merriam Cheeseman Pearson. After graduating from Tulsa High School, he earned his BS at Pittsburg State University, his MS at Kansas State University and his PhD at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He retired from Evangel University in 1993 after 37 years as professor, coach, and Athletic Director.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Louise Wilson Pearson. He is survived by his son, Jim and wife Denise of Steamboat Springs, CO; his daughter Jane and husband Jerry Renner of Marshfield; 4 grandchildren, Christa and husband David Ikard, Jessica and husband Bryan Koppe, Jaci and husband Matt Nagel and Jessee Renner, and 3 great-grandchildren, Terrell, Elsah, and Magnolia.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Greenlawn North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Don Pearson Scholarship Fund at Evangel University.
