Donald Wayne Glenn
Donald Wayne Glenn was born September 20, 1942. He went to Heaven on September 7, 2009. He was 66 years old. Don was born at home about 1/2 mile from where he currently lived. His parents, which preceded him in death, were Delmar Wesley Glenn and Mary Jane (Mathis) Glenn. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stevie and his sister, Mary. Don grew up in close proximity of his grandparents, and constantly raved about his Granny’s cooking and how she spoiled him. His childhood was filled with hunting, work, dogs and chickens. Don was united in marriage to Marcia Louise Day on November 22, 1963. They enjoyed 45 years of life together. Seldom did you see one without the other. They truly became one when they said their vows and love one another through good times and hard times. Don’s favorite times in recent years were spent with his grandchildren or “PaPa’s buddies” as he referred to them. Whether they were shooting pool, singing silly songs, playing “root the peg”, or various other activities, he always enjoyed his time with them. Don was a life long hunter, dog lover, and chicken trader. He always enjoyed trading chickens or dogs with his friends and trying to get “the best of them” on every deal. Don became a Christian when he was 19 and continued to follow the Lord, throughout his life. He took his children to church, gave them an example to live by and was able to see each of them become Christians, as well. His last testimony was a week before his death when he told his wife, “I’m going to Heaven, come go with me.” Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Louise; three children; and seven grandchildren, Donise Brown and her husband Gary and their children Jake and Ashton, all of Strafford, Doug Glenn and his wife Pamela and their children Dakota, Lydia and Dustin, all of Hartville, and Keith Glenn and his wife Erica and their children, Kody and Allyson, all of Republic. Two brothers, Gary Glenn and Delmar Glenn, Jr.; and three sisters, Wilma Wright, Brenda Woods and Teresa Joyce; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Don’s body will be laid to rest at Bass Chapel Cemetery. Don is in Heaven with the Lord. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow in Bass Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
